Here is exactly how this site is paid for, so you can judge what you read here accordingly.
As of 22 September 2026 the site is not yet earning anything: no ads are running and no post contains affiliate links. The sections below describe how it will be funded, and they apply from the day that changes.
How posts are written
Every post is drafted with AI assistance, then fact-checked and approved by me before publication. I read everything that goes up and I am responsible for it.
I do not write first-hand claims — “I tried this”, “I visited”, “I opened an account with them” — unless I actually did, and where a post rests on my own experience it says so plainly. Everything else is attributed: official sources for rules and deadlines, published price lists for costs, named experts for opinions.
Each post carries the date its facts were checked. Fees, thresholds and deadlines in Singapore change often enough that an undated guide is worthless.
Advertising
This site shows ads through Google AdSense. I do not choose which ads appear, advertisers have no say over what I write, and no advertiser sees a post before it is published.
Affiliate links
Some links to software, banking and accounting services are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, I may be paid a commission at no extra cost to you.
Every post containing affiliate links says so at the top, before you reach the links. A commission never buys a recommendation or a better ranking in a comparison, and the comparison would read the same without it.
Sponsored posts
If a post is paid for, it is labelled as paid at the top. Not in the footer, not in small print.
What I will not take money for
These are not negotiable, and they are law or regulation rather than preference:
- Recommending specific financial products. Money content here is educational — how the rules work, and comparisons of published rates and fees. Recommending a particular product, or giving advice tailored to one person’s situation, can require a licence from MAS, and a disclaimer does not change that.
- Moneylender promotions. Licensed moneylenders in Singapore may advertise only in business directories, on their own websites and at their own premises. Not here, paid or unpaid.
- Paid referral arrangements with law firms. Singapore lawyers may not pay finders’ fees for clients, so there is no arrangement to be had.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, email john@smallbizsg.com and I will correct it and note when it was corrected. Corrections are not buried.
Independence
Small Biz SG is run by me personally. It is not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any corporate service provider, bank, accounting firm or law firm.
